For my spring break, I took a trip to Texas; our first stop was San Antonio and I really enjoyed it! This Texas city is full of SO much history and SO much good food! I would definitely recommend adding this to your Texas itinerary.
Where To Eat:
Having good places to eat is one of the most important parts of a trip! You are experiencing a whole new world of food and able to experience a culture through delicious meals. San Antonio definitely did not disappoint!
Torchy's tacos is a must for your trip to Texas. Either in San Antonio or another city, you need to stop by Torchy's. Begin your meal with the green Chile queso and chips; this was probably the best queso I have ever had (and I get queso A LOT). Not only was the queso amazing but the tacos were too! With the delicious Trailer Park and Beef Fajita tacos my stomach was extremely satisfied and my taco loving self was super happy!
2. Casa Rio
Mexican food again… are you even surprised?? Casa Rio is located right on the RiverWalk giving the place a great experience along with the great food. It was established in 1946 making it one of the oldest restaurants on the RiverWalk. The food is more of your standard Mexican food but still so yummy and a great experience!
History and good food?? Count me in!! Guenther house is home to a museum, unique gift shop and delicious restaurant. I made sure to take advantage of all three but I want to tell you about the food…. WOW so yummy! We had brunch which I would highly recommend. I had a hard time deciding between the chicken and waffles and champagne chicken enchiladas but I was very satisfied with my choice. I got the champagne chicken enchiladas and they were AMAZING!! 10/10 highly recommend
4. Boudros
While Boudros had yummy food, it also had a super long wait, so be prepared for a long wait OR make reservations. The place is a bit loud and crowded (because it is on the RiverWalk), but if that does not bother you then I would definitely recommend eating here. One thing you must get is the Guacamole for two, it was so good and a unique spin to guacamole that I never had before. For my meal I got the Bourdeaux’s Shrimp And Grits, very yummy but very pricey. If you’re willing to spend a bit more money on some yummy food then I would definitely recommend Boudros.
5. La Panderia
La Panderia is an awesome place for my bread lovers. They specialize in making handmade bread and the bread is GOOD. They have been featured on Food Network and I can see why. For breakfast, I had the French Toast with Berries and a chai tea latte. It was super good and very filling; I would definitely recommend!
What To Do:
I only had two days to explore San Antonio; therefore, I had to make the most of it! Here is everything I did on my short trip to San Antonio.
1. RiverWalk
This is one of the highlights of San Antonio!! There is so many sights to see and take in and so much to do. The walk is full of shops and pretty views. I would definitely recommend walking along the Riverwalk and checking out all it has to offer.

2. River Cruise
One thing you must do as you adventure along the RiverWalk is to do a River Cruise. It is the best way to see the RiverWalk from a new perspective. I would definitely recommend beginning your trip this way - it gives you a chance to hear the tour guides recommendations and to find places you might want to visit later on in your trip. We bought our tickets through the City Sightseeing Tours which included the River Cruise and a hop on hop off bus tour.

This is a great and easy way to get around the city! The hop on hop off bus tour is super convenient and takes you to all the must sees of the city. Definitely recommend getting a ticket for easy transportation.
4. Tower of the Americas
This is another stop on the Hop on Hop off bus tour. Tower of the Americas gives a great view of the Alamo City. We walked around the observation deck for about 20 minutes and then headed back to the bus.
5. Cathedral of San Fernando Light Show
This was probably one of my favorite parts of San Antonio (besides the food)! Every Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night the San Fernando Cathedral puts on a light show which displays a 20 minute light and music show of the history of San Antonio. Definitely a must see and highlight!

6. The Alamo (DUH)
Of course you must visit what San Antonio is know for, THE ALAMO!! I grew up reading stories and learning about the Alamo and now I can say I have seen history come to life. Visiting the Alamo is free; however, be prepared to wait in line. I would encourage you to wake up early and try to get in before the crowd comes; I know how frustrating standing in line can be!!

7. San Antonio Missions National Historical Park
In San Antonio, there are five Spanish frontier missions. While my family and I only visited one, it was cool to see the history of San Antonio in the form of these missions. They’re also a National Park, so make sure you get a stamp for your National Park passport!

8. Historic Market Square
Historic Market Square offers so many sights, sound and food for you to enjoy! Watch old Mexico come to life before you as you are surrounded by colorful creations and yummy Mexican food. This is definitely an interesting place to stop in San Antonio and another great place to experience the history of the city.
P.S. make sure you get some churros and tacos at one of the stands… YUM!
San Antonio is an awesome place full of so much history and excitement. It offers amazing food and great experiences; I would definitely recommend adding some of these places to your list of must do’s in San Antonio.
